AbstractThe polarography of uranium in antipyrine solutions was studied in detail. A reversible and diffusion controlled wave was obtained overpH 1.5 to 4.7 and antipyrine concentration ranging from 0.016Mto 0.631M. AtpH between 2.3 and 4.7, the half‐wave potential wasindependent ofpH value. AtpH lower one hydrogen than 2.3, ion was involved in the reduction. The U(VI)‐antipyrine compound was found to be a chelate species of UO2A2+2and UO2A2+2in antipyrine of concentratration lower than 0.155Mand atpH 3.5, but was a simple complex species of UO2AG+2in antipyrine of concentration higher than 0.155M. 摘要:
AbstractSeparation factors for La, Ce, and Pr have been measured precisely on columns of bis [2‐ethylhexyl] orthophosphoric acid (DEP) supported on diatomaceous silica made hydrophobic with dimethyldichlorosilane. Column behavior is related to the properties of DEP when used as a solvent extractant, and the column method is a useful one for studying a solvent extraction system with great precision and reproducibility. Separation factors measured are Ce/La = 2.8 ± 0.1 and Pr/Ce = 2.7 ± 0.1. The dependence of elution volume on HCl activity is found to be approximately 2.5 power in the range 0.2–0.

摘要:
AbstractThe contents of Br and I in commercial sodium glutamate and cassava flour were determined by neutron activation analsis at the Tsing Hua Reactor. The conventional carbon tetrachloride extraction method was employed for the analysis of these elements. It was found that the content of Br varied widely between 0.003 and 0.1ppm, while that of I varied between 0.06 and 0.7ppm, in six samples of sodium glutamate. Two samples of cassava flour were found to contain 0.1 and 0.2ppmof Br, and 0.02 and 0.04ppm. of I, respectively. The higher contents of these elements in come glutamate samples as compared with the raw material was considered to be the contamination from chemicals used in the production processes.

AbstractSome modifications on the preparation of thin‐layer were made. By using the modified thin layer, the time required for development was shortened to one to two hours. Temperature and humidity effects for the thin‐layer formation are discussed.
