AbstractThe reduction of Hg(II) by Ti(III) ions in aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid has been found to be of second‐order with respect to the total concentrations of Hg(II) and Ti(III) ions,−d[Ti+++]t/dt=k[Ti+++]t[Hg++]t.The rate constant was found to be practically independent of the concentration of hydronium ion, but to be a function of that of chloride ion. 摘要:
AbstractFor the purpose of developing a sensitive and precise spectrophotometric method for uranium determination, the reaction of uranium (VI) with aluminon, ammonium salt of aurintricarboxylic acid, was rigorously examined. Uranium reacted with aluminon to give a pink color absorption complex with the maximum absorbance at 535 mμ and optimum pH of 4.0 to 4.8.The presence of two kinds of absorption complex, UO2++‐ATA and (UO2++)2‐ATA, was proved, the electromigration tests for both were shown to be negative. The molar extinction coefficient of UO2++‐ATA was found to be 7400 and that of (UO2++)2‐ATA, 12000, with the instability constants of 5.0×10−7and 2.8×10−12respectively. The practical sensitivity was 0.5 to 1 p.p.m. The color reaction was also found to conform with Beer's law, and the intensity did not change wit

AbstractDetermination of micro amounts of lead with ThB (Pb212) as a tracer by the “Isotope Dilution Method of Analysis” has been studied.ThB can be easily obtained from ordinarly chemical reagent of thorium nitrate by extracting with dithizone. If dithizone in chloroform solution is saturated with lead containing radioactive tracer ThB, and equilibrium is established with the aqueous layer containing varying amounts of lead, the amounts of lead in the aqueous solution can be easily found by simply measuring the activities in the organic layer from the following relation:\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ A_e = a\frac{{M_l}}{{\left({M_l + M_s} \right)}} $$\end{document}With this relation, the determination of micro amounts of lead in aqueous solutions can be easily made without any auxiliarly chemical meth

AbstractThe essential oil from wild perilla contains 55% (−)‐piperitone, 31% (−)‐limonene, 6% α‐caryophyllene, and 0.5% (−)‐piperityl formate. 2,4‐Dinitrophenylhydrazone was found to be the most suitable derivative for the identification of piperitone. Partial racemization, that occurred during the formation of the semicarbazone and also during the hydrolysis of the semicarbazone, was confirmed by the isolation of a new optically active semicarbazone of (−)‐piperitone. 摘要:
AbstractBelieving that the silicon in rice hull must exist as organosilicon compounds, the authors have undertaken a series of researches so as to gain an insight into the problem. In this paper, experiments including treatment with hydrofluoric acid, extraction with various solvents, hydrolysis with acid and boiling with alkali are described. Dialysis of the products resulting from these experiments has shown definitely that silicon passed into aqueous solution even with a pH at which silica might precipitate. Since lignin does not contain ash, it is supposed that the silicon in rice hull may be combined with the polysaccharide part.

AbstractThe change of Huggins' constantk′ of the graft polymer solution brought about by varying the composition of the solvent was studied. The graft polymer solution studied was prepared according to the method described in the author's previous paper,(1)andk′ was obtained from viscosity measurements of the solvent with varying methanol contents. 摘要:
AbstractThe configurational change of the specially prepared graft polymer molecule occurred, when an appropriate amount of alcohol was added into the polymer solution and then evaporated it again. The graft polymer studied here was polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) branching prepared according to the procedure given in our previous papers.(1.2)The schematical explanatian of the configurational change of this graft polymer has been given. The viscosimetric measurements of the solution of the polymer of outward form have been examined and the results compared with those of the solution of the polymer of inward form. The polymer of outward form dissolved in alcohol of various strengths have their values of intrinsic viscosity the same as, but their values of Huggins' constant different from, those given by the polymer of inward form.The extent of configurational change of the polymer molecule depends on the amount of alcohol added in bringing about the change.
