摘要:
In spite of evident limitations of using satellite data under European conditions, satisfactory discrimination of rice fields, poplar groves and beech coppices in Northern Italy was achieved on Landsat imagery through computer-aided classification techniques, thus allowing an objective estimation of the respective areas. A multitemporal analysis improves significantly the accuracy of classification. On the other hand, a method of correcting reflectance data for atmospheric effects appears promising for classification purposes.

摘要:
Most estuarine chemistry and pollution studies are based on classical notions of estuarine circulation, in which diluted sea water moving up the bottom of the estuary is mixed and advected upward into an upper layer of relatively fresh water moving downstream. Circulation is assumed to be two-dimensional ( axial and vertical) and salinity variations and flows in the transverse direction are dealt with as minor perturbations on the basic two-dimensional model.

摘要:
The general problem of a partially coherent synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging a scene that is subjected to random fade is considered. The impulse response, frequency response and response to extended random fields are formally derived. Explicit results are obtained using gaussian functions to describe the SAR, its coherence and the scene coherence. Results converge appropriately on known results for cases treated previously. New results are presented concerning all three classes of fading input scenes. The results are applied to the problem of SAR imagery of oceanic waves, with comments on certain aspects of Seasat-A SAR data as appropriate.

摘要:
European activities in remote sensing from space are increasing rapidly, and clear ideas are emerging on the candidate European satellites that will provide important contributions to the global Earth observation programmes of the mid-1980s. The paper summarizes ESA' s ongoing activities in this new space application area, in particular the use of Earthnet to acquire and to experiment with data from already orbiting satellites, and the development of instruments to be flown on the European manned orbital laboratory— Spacelab. Information is provided on the preliminary conclusions from recently completed feasibility studies that aim at the definition of automatic satellites and sensors for monitoring both the land and ocean surfaces. Finally, the importance of developing applications is emphasized, underlining that only by the careful and systematic preparation of applications can the maximum benefits be realized from the satellite systems.

摘要:
Red and photographic infrared spectral data of alfalfa were collected at the time of the third and fourth cuttings using a hand-held radiometer for the earlier alfalfa cutting. Significant linear and non-linear correlation coefficients were found between the spectral variables and plant height, biomass, forage water content, and estimated canopy cover. For the alfalfa of the later cutting, which had experienced a period of severe drought stress which limited growth, the spectral variables were found to be highly correlated with the estimated drought scores.

摘要:
Photographic image tone is an indicator of surface reflectance. If adequately preprocessed, photographic image tone can be used to provide a quantitative measureof relative surface reflectance,essential for many remotesensingapplications. The three preprocessing steps proposed are, first the standardization of the film data to a gamma of 1, second scene to scene ratioing, and third band to band ratioing. This methodology is reviewed and an example of its application provided in the preprocessing of a large multispectral photographic data set.
