InhaltIn einem ersten Versuch, ausgeführt in Februar und März 1977, wurde der derzeitige Stand der Embryo Transfertechnik im Rahmen eines Besamungszuchtprogrammes geprüft. Es wurden 16 Tiere erfolgreich gespült aus einer Gesamtzahl aon 21 stimulierten Tieren. 5,3 Embryonen wurden pro Spender ausgespült. Die Irächtigkeitsrate nach Palpation betrug 32,25 %. Um praktische Bedeutung für ein Besamungszuchtprogramm zu erreichen, muβ es möglich werden: (1) Die Ausfallraten (bei Stimulierung, Oaulation, Befruchtung der Eier und Spülung) zu reduzieren; (2) 2,5 Kälber pro Spender pro Spülung zu produzieren; (3) 2 Spülungen pro Spender hintereinander durchzuführen.ContentsStudies on the nonsurgical recovery of bovine embryos within Al breeding programs.At the Munich University a pilot project was carried out in February and March 1977 to study embryo transfer in an AI breeding programme. 16 donors out of 21 preselected superior cows could be flushed successfully. InhaltAn 475 atretischen Schweineoozyten wurde das Kernreifungsvermögen und die Befruchtungsfähigkeit in vitro bzw. in vivo geprüft. Etwa die Hälfte der Eizellen befanden sich bereits intrafollikulär in fortgeschrittenen Stadien der Reifeteilungen (Prometaphase 1 – Metaphase 2). Nach der in vitro bzw. in vivo Kultivierung stieg der Anteil sekundärer Oozyten auf 25,3 bzw. 42,9 % an. Parthenogenetische Vorkernausbildungen und Fragmentationen traten bei etwa 10 % der Oozyten auf.Nach der Übertragung atretischer Eizellen in zuvor gedeckte Empfänger konnten zahlreiche pathologische Befruchtungsformen beobachtet werden, deren Entstehung im Hinblick auf die Kern‐ und Zytoplasmareifung in degenerierenden und extrakorporal gereiften Oozyten diskutiert wird.ContentsMaturation and fertilization capability of atretic pig oocytes in vitro and in vivo475 atretic porcine oocytes were tested in vitro and in vivo to determine the stage of nuclear maturation and the capacity for fertilization. SummaryA method is described in which bovine spermatozoa, packaged in plastic straws, can be frozen rapidly with uniformofreezing rates. Best survival rates were obtained when straws were cooled from +5 °C to –120 °C in 180 seconds and then plunged into liquid nitrogen. This could easily be performed with the use of a specially constructed freezing box, in which flowing air was cooled to a temperature of –120 °C. Conception rates of over 400.000 first inseminations with semen frozen in this way, were satisfactory.InhaltSchnelles Tiefgefrieren von Bullenspermien in PailettenEs wird eine Methode zur schnellen Tiefgefrierung von bovinen Rinder‐Spermatozoen, die in Plastikröhrchen verpackt sind, beschrieben. Beste Überlebensraten wurden erzielt, wenn die Röhrchen von +5° auf –120° innerhalb von 80 Sekunden heruntergekühlt wurden und dann in flüssigen Stickstoff getaucht wurden. ContentsTwo different formulations and dosing regimens of Chlormadinone (CAP) were used for estrous cycle synchronization or for estrous cycle induction in cows with lactational anestrus, in open field trials with purebred Zebu (Brahman) cattle in the tropics (Gulf coast area of Central Mexico). In trial 1, during the dry season (February) animals received a single injection of 50 mg CAP in oily solution i. m., followed 10 days later by 5 daily oral doses of 10 mg CAP in raw sugar. In trial 2, during the rainy season (August) animals received 10 mg CAP/day orally for 15 days in an oily solution as a top dressing on raw sugar. In both trials, animals in heat were inseminated over a 30 day period. Data from 107 (61 lactating and 46 dry) cows were evaluated in trial 1, and from 214 lactating cows in trial 2. Synchronization of estrus within 3 to 8 days occurred in 67.4 % and 52,5 % of the dry and of the lactating cows in trial 1, and in 53,3 % of lactating cows in trial 2. 21.7 % of the dry and 41.0 % of the lactating cows in trial 1 and 37,9 % of the cows in trial 2 had their first heat 17 to 27 days after CAP withdrawal, indicating that they may have shown silent heat during the initial synchronization period. In the spring, conception rates from breeding during days 1 to 8 after CAP were low (33.3 %), but increased for animals bred on days 17 to 27 (54.5 %). In the summer, in congruence with the overall seasonal decline of fertility observed in Zebu cattle, the initially low conception rate from breeding on days 1–7 (27,1%) remained low for animals bred during days 18 to 27 (29.8%).InhaltInduktion und Synchronisation von Sexualzyklen beim Zeburind mit Chlormadinonazetat in verschiedenen Darreichungsformen: Einfluβ der Jahreszeit.Zur Zyklussynchronisation bzw. Zyklusinduktion bei Zeburindern unter tropischen Haltungsbedingungen (mexikanische Golfküste) wurde Chlormadinonazetat (CAP) in zwei verschiedenen Darreichungsformen und Applikationsarten angewandt. Im 1. Feldversuch, wiihrend der Trockenzeit (Februar), wurden 50 mg CAP in öliger Lösung i. m. injiziert; 10 Tage später wurden 10 mg CAP in Rohrzucker täglich für fünf Tage verabreicht. Im 2. Feldversuch, während der Regenzeit (August) erhielten die Tiere 10 mg CAP in öliger Lösung auf eine Rohrzuckerration zur oralen Aufnahme, für 15 Tage. In beiden Versuchen wurden alle in Brunst kommenden Tiere während der ersten 30 Tage nach Medikation besamt. Im ersten Versuch kamen 107 Tiere zur Auswertung (61 laktierende und 46 trocken stehende Kühe), im 2. Versuch insgesamt 214 laktierende Zebukühe mit dem Kalb bei Fuss. Im 1. Versuch rinderten, synchronisiert zwischen dem 3. und 8. Tag, 67,4 % der trockenstehenden und 52,5 % der laktierenden Kühe; im Versuch 2, 53,5 % der in Laktation stehenden Tiere. Von den trokkenstehenden Tieren in Versuch 1 rinderten jedoch 21,7% und von den laktierenden Tieren 41,0 % erst zwischen dem 17. und 27. Tag nach letzter CAP‐Gabe; im 2. Versuch waren es 37,9 %. Es wird angenommen, daβ diese Tiere unmittelbar nach CAP‐Anwendung stillbrünstig waren. Ein Vergleich der Konzeptionen aus Besamungen vom Tag 1 bis 8 und vom Tag 17 bis 27 zwischen Versuch 1 und Versuch 2 zeigt einen Anstieg der Konzeptionsrate im Frühjahr von 33,3 % (Tag 1–8) auf 54 % (Tag 17–27), während im Sommer die Rate von 27,1 % (Tag 1–8) nicht weiter ansteigt (29,8 %: Tag 18 bis 27). InhaltForpflanzungsleistung irakischer Büffel, saisonale Schwankungen im Sexualtrieb und im Samen.Präpuberale männliche Büffel im durchschnittlichen Alter von 18,4 Monaten wogen 336,6 kg und hatten einen Skrotalumfang von 23,4 cm. Die Reaktionszeit und die Sameneigenschaften von jungen 1 3/4–2 1/2 Jahre alten und erwachsenen 6 1/2–8 Jahre alten Büffelbullen wurden tabellarisch dargestellt. Die am häufigsten vorkommenden Spermienabnormalitäten bestanden in geschwollenen und asymmetrisch angeordneten Mittelstücken bei jungen Bullen. Das Auftreten dieser Abnormalitäten war abhängig von der Jahreszeit. Abweichungen in den anderen Sameneigenschaften wurden hauptsüchlich durch das somatische Wachstum beeinfluβt.ContentsThe average values for age, body weight and scrotal circumference of pubertal buffalo‐bulls was 18.04 month, 336.6 Kg. and 23.4 cm. respectively. InhaltMöglichkeit einer Chromosomenklassifikation durch eine Trypsin‐Giemsa‐Bänderungstechnik.Es wird eine modifizierte Trypsin‐Giemsa‐Bandtechnik für Chromosomen beschrieben, die beim Schwein eine deutliche Bänderung zur Chromosomenidentifikation ergibt. Die Bänderung wird erzielt durch eine Verkärzung der Kolchizineinwirkung auf 30 Minuten und eine Behandlung der 3–5 Tage alten Objektträger mit einer 0,1 % Trypsinlösung (Sörensenpuffer pH 6,8) über eine Dauer von 10–20 Minuten bei 4°C und anschlieβender Färbung mit 2 % Giemsalösung (Phosphatpuffer pH 6,8) für 7–10 Minuten. Mit dieser Technik konnten die 18 autosomalen Chromosomen und die beiden Geschlechtschromosomen des Schweines identifiziert werden. Einzelheiten der G‐Bandzeichnung eines jeden Chromosoms dieser Spezies werden beschrieben und in einem Karyotypogramm photographisch und schematisch belegt. Das beschriebene Verfahren kann für Zytogenetiker der Human‐ und Tiermedizin von Bedeutung sein.ContentsIn the present paper the authors present a modified trypsin‐giemsa chromosomal banding technique showing clear banding patterns for the identification of pig chromosomes. The banding patterns were induced by the reduction of colchicine density or trypsin treatment at a critical temperature of 4°C. Identification of 18 pairs of autosomes and a pair of sex‐chromosomes of pig were made successfully. Details of the G‐banding patterns of each chromosome were described and illustrated both in a karyotypical photograph and in a schematic diagram. InhaltAn 6 Schafen mit angeborener Mikrophthalmie wurden morphologische und histologische Untersuchungen am Gehirn und an den Groβhirnhemisphären durchgeführt und die Befunde mit denen bei 3 Kontrolltieren verglichen. Das Gehirngewicht und die Länge der Hemisphären sind etwas kleiner als bei den entsprechend altersgleichen Kontrollgehirnen. Zwei Probanden weisen eine leichte Umfangsverminderung im Bereich der okzipitalen Kortex auf. Die Zytoarchitektonik der Area striata weist eine stärkere Variation auf, als bei den Kontrollgehirnen; grundsätzlich entspricht sie jedoch dem Rindenmuster normal entwickelter Schafe. Die zytologischen Veränderungen treten in der visuellen Kortex – wie auch im Colliculus anterior, jedoch im Gegensatz zum Corpus geniculatum laterale – hauptsächlich an den kleinen und kleinsten Nervenzellen auf. Die für die postnatale Entwicklung charakteristische Nivellierung der Zelldichte zu einer gleichmäβigen Zellverteilung ist vermindert. Der Gehalt an Markfasern, die in die visuelle Kortex ziehen, ist herabgesetzt.ContentsInvestigations on the optic nerves and brains of microphthalmic sheep. Communication III: Report of the brain and the cortical hemispheres.Morphological and histological experiments on the brain and the cortical hemispheres were carried out on 6 sheep with congenital microphthalmia. Theresults were compared with 3 control animals. The weight of the brains and the length of the hemispheres were somewhat less in the experimental animals of the same age. In 2 of the experimental animals, the circumference of the occipital cortex was slightly less. The cytoarchitectonics of the area striata showed more variation in the experimental animals. In other respects, however, the cortex resembled that of normal sheep. The cytological differences occured in the visual cortex as well as in the colliculus anterior. In contrast to the corpus geniculatum laterale, the variations generally appeared in the small and smallest nerve cells.
