摘要:
A method of determining the material buckling of a cylindrical subcritical assembly is described. The new technique is an improved “flux shape” method that is based upon the complete orthogonality of the Bessel function. To obtain sufficient accuracy, a scintillation detector with a very thin scintillator has been used. The result indicates that the present method yields a value of buckling free from higher harmonics and end effects, with a standard deviation of 3.0% under centric point source condition. The buckling obtained is −(7.08±0.23) × 10-4cm-2. This lies between the values measured by conventional “flux shape” and “variable loading” methods, which are amenable to unwanted effects.

摘要:
Pulse propagation experiments of thermal neutrons were carried out in a graphite system to investigate the diffusion and the thermalization processes of neutrons in graphite. The principle of the thermal pulse source used was based on the distinct difference in the slowing down and the thermalizalion times between paraffin and graphite. From the Fourier transformed data of the measured propagating thermal pulses were derived the inverse attenuation length and the phase lag per unit length as functions of frequency.

摘要:
Diodes of “half-column structure” were investigated. “Half-column” type Ge (5 cm3) and Si (3 cm3) diodes were prepared by air drifting in water coolant. The capacitance of 10 mm and 16 mm drifted “half-column” diodes were found to be about 2 pF at 200 V. The FWHM with an E180F preamplifier was 10 keV at 1.33 MeV γ-energy at relatively low bias voltage (200 V).

摘要:
The energy and angular distributions as well as the yields of fast neutrons from a thick Be-disk bombarded by 1.0 MeV to 3.0 MeV deuterons, observed with the use of Time-of-Flight technique, are presented. It was ascertained that the water cooled target assembly of a Be-disk 3 mm thick could tolerate beams up to 1.2 kW. Data obtained with the neutrons generated by the present reactions are also reported for practical use in fast neutron irradiation work.

A differential pressure gage for F2was costructed. Two metal bellows were connected end to end and the net displacement of the connecting part was measured by a differential transformer. The output voltage per unit pressure difference was 1.7 mV/mmH2O.
