摘要:
The behaviour of a captive group of mangabeys is described in terms of the frequency with which different members of the group showed certain behaviour patterns. For some patterns, these frequencies relate to the dominance status of individuals in the group, for others to their age. Fluctuations in behaviour associated with changes in the reproductive status of females in the group are described.

摘要:
A brief review of the literature on reproduction inthe lesser bushbaby reveals some large sub-specific differences between Northern and Southern varieties in respect of the incidence of twin births, length of the gestation period, birth weightand the incidence of post-partum estrous. Since we have been studying the behaviour of the most Southern variety of the lesser bushbaby, G. s. moholi, over the past five years under semi-natural conditions and, more recently, in the field, we have accumulated a good deal of data on reproduction in this sub-species.

摘要:
The social structure of a semifree-ranging troop of over 100 squirrel monkeys is described. The troop tended to travel as a single unit. There were no leaders or control animals in the troop, and social hierarchies were absent except among the troop’s 4 adult males during the mating season. The adult females functioned as the core of the social organization, since animals of all other age-sex classes showed greater attractions to them than vice versa. Although there was spacial structuring among individuals in local areas within the troop, the only consistent structuring of the troop as a whole resulted from the adult males’ traveling at the periphery of the troop and from several subadult males’ separating from the troop during nonmating season m

摘要:
Chimpanzees are apparently unable to swim, a fact which may be accounted for by a low ratio Sof fat to muscle and a low specific gravity. A survey of field studies of wild chimpanzees indicates that they have very little contact with water. In contrast, chimpanzees in captivity frequently drink standing water, possibly because their diet is low in water content. Two of the semi-free-ranging chimpanzees observed in this study would immerse themselves to waist-level in moat water, replacing former behavior patterns of water avoidance.

The urethra of Old and New World monkeys and the chimpanzee is essentially similar to that of man. it is suggested that transitional cell tumors in the distal urethra would thus only arise by implantation metastasis.

摘要:
The vascular architecture has been studied in kidneys from five rhesus monkeys, three baboons, two chimpanzees and two dogs through the use of a silicone rubber injection method. The most important findings is the presence of subcapsular glomeruli in nonhuman primates, in contrast to man and dog. The study also confirms the presence of superficial cortical arteries in these primates. While the functional significance of such findings is not known, it is suggested that these species would serve as ideal models for micropuncture study of glomerular function.

摘要:
Placenta previa in a primigravida Erythrocebus patas is described. The main clinical sign was massive vaginal hemorrhage in a gravid animal. A large oval monodiscoidal placenta was found implanted over the dilated internal os of the cervix during cesarean section. This is the first report of this condition in the patas monkey and the second account of its occurrence in a non-human primate.

摘要:
The flexion of the cranial base and ontogenic migration of the foramen magnum in Macaca mulatto were investigated. Longitudinal cephalometric studies were carried out in infant and juvenile groups. Significant ontogenie changes of the cranial base were observed only in juvenile age group. The infant group did not exhibit any changes of the cranial base angle or migration of the foramen magnum. The diameter of the latter in infants exhibited small but statistically significant changes.

摘要:
The hemogram of the lesser Galago (Galago senegalensis) is presented. The mean values are: hemoglobin, 17.22 g% for males (M), 15.85 g% for females (F); PCV, 51.5% (M), 45.8% (F); RBC, 7,335,000/mm3 (M), 6,611,000/mm3 (F); WBC, 8,350/mm (M) 9,004/mm3 (F); neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes and eosinophils values are similar to other primates. Platelet value are slightly elevated. The MCH is 23.41 (pg) in the maleand 23.88 in the female. The MCV is 70.06 µm3 in the male and 69.14 µm3 in the female. The MCHC is 33.65% in the male and 34.53% in the femal

摘要:
Aminoacids are known to be present in the blood and urine of primates. Comparative studies of these compounds have been carried out to determine whether any similarities or differences exists. It appears that the differences are of taxonomic significance especially when considered in conjunction with the presence of other small molecules.
