摘要:
Given k (≥ 2) independent normal populations with unknown means and unknown (and possibly unequal) variances a single-stage sampling procedure for multiple comparisons with the largest normal mean and with a control, respectively, are proposed. The advantage of the single-stage procedure is to have design simplicity and to reach an exact solution. Simulation results indicate that the single-stage procedure appears to be a reasonable choice as compared to existing methods. Computer program and a numerical example are given.

Simple examples are given to show that when using a bounded random sample size, to test two unrelated hypotheses about the means of two independent normal populations, one can improve on the power of both tests, as compared with the corresponding best fixed sample size test.

摘要:
For the half–logistic distribution, Balakrishnan (1985) derived several recurrence relations satisfied by the single and the product moments of order statistics and applied them in a simple recursive process to compute the means, variances and covariances of order statistics for sample sizes up to 15. Balakrishnan and Puthenpura (1986) made use of those results to tabulate the coefficients of the best linear unbiased estimators of location and scale parameters based on complete samples. In this paper, we extend their results and tabulate the. best linear unbiased estimators when the samples are singly and doubly Type II censored. We also present the values of the variances and covariance of these estimators. Finally, we present two examples in which tables are used.

摘要:
Intuitive subjective probability is commonly assumed to represent an individual's comparative probability judgments of the events in some algebra. Conditions under which these judgments can be represented with numerical probabilities have been stated in various axiom systems. Existing axiom systems treat comparative probability judgments as a primitive concept without formulating the basis upon which these judgments are made. This paper argues for a constructive model of intuitive probability based on the relevant information available to an individual. In this model, probability is derived from the individual's subjective judgments of the extent to which available information supports the occurrence of an event. A specific model is suggested and it is illustrated with some examples.
