The mass spectral fragmentation patterns of a series of dipyridylalkanes (methanes, ethanes, propanes, butanes) are discussed. Di-2-pyridylethanes fragment by asymmetric cleavage whilst di-3- and di-4- pyridylethanes exhibit symmetrical cleavage.

摘要:
The dimeric products formed during the homolytic methylation of the lutidines witht-butyl peroxide at 135° have been identified by gas chromatography — mass spectrometry. The 2,6- and 3,5- lutidines gave the corresponding dimethyldipyridylethanes whilst the 2,4-, 2,5- and 3,4- lutidines gave both the normal and crossed products.

摘要:
The IR and Raman spectra of Crystalline Tetrapropylammonium trichlorozincate (II) have been measured at room and liquid nitrogen temperatures. The spectra have been interpreted in terms of halogen bridged structures. The complete coincidence of the IR and Raman bands suggests a symmetry lower than D2hand rules out any centrosymmetric structure.
