摘要:
An entire and fragmentary specimens ofBathynotusfrom the Northern Territory, Australia, are described and referred toB. holopygus. Entire specimens from the Kaili Formation, Guizhou, China, may also belong to this species which was widespread, inhabiting the outer shelf to slope facies of the olenellid and redlichiid (Perigondwana) faunal realms. Species based on fragmentary material may, or may not, be different. The stratigraphical range ofB. holopyguslies within the currently debated late Lower Cambrian to early Middle Cambrian transition. The cranidial morphology and macropleural eleventh thoracic segment suggests that it may belong with the Redlichioidea; the morphology appears to allow complete enrolment.

A well-preserved acanthodian fish fauna from the Lower Devonian (early Emsian) Cavan Bluff Limestone (Murrumbidgee Group), Taemas, Yass district, New South Wales, consists of dentigerous jawbones, fin spines and scales. Four taxa belonging to the Order Ischnacanthida are recognized includingTaemasacanthus erroliLong, 1986 and newly described genera and speciesCavanacanthus warrooensisgen. et sp. nov.,Cambaracanthus goodhopensisgen. et sp. nov. andTaemasacanthus porcasp. nov. An amended diagnosis is provided forT. erroli. The jawbone ofC. warrooensisgen. et sp. nov. is of moderate size and bears a single row of teeth with a circular parabasal section. The jawbone extends in an anterior direction beyond the foremost tooth.C. goodhopensisgen. et sp. nov. is a small to moderate sized jawbone bearing two teeth rows separated by a longitudinal ridge. The teeth of the mesial tooth row, the main tooth row, are circular in parabasal section. The lateral tooth row is weakly developed, bearing one or two incipient teeth.T. porcasp. nov. is represented by a small curved jawbone (mesially concave) bearing two teeth rows separated by a prominent longitudinal ridge. The teeth of both tooth rows have a circular parabasal section. The anterior extension of this ridge beyond the foremost tooth represents approximately one quarter the length of the jawbone. These fishes inhabited a Lower Devonian carbonate platform consisting of patch reefs built upon a muddy substrate on a low energy shallow marine shelf which was subjected to frequent storm surges.

摘要:
The first record of a permianellid species from theLeptodusshales of the Gua Musang Formation, northwest Pahang, Peninsular Malaysia is documented. The specimen is assigned toPermianella typicaHe & Zhu, 1979 and is most likely late Guadalupian in age based on its association withVediproductusSarytcheva (in Ruzhentsev & Sarytcheva 1965). This new record is the most southerly occurrence of the genusPermianella.

摘要:
Neochonetessp. (Brachiopoda, Chonetoidea) is recorded from the middle to upper part of the early Permian Río del Peñón Formation, Río Blanco Basin, La Rioja, Argentina. It can be recognised as an r-strategist based on distribution, facies, morphological and ontogenic data which agree with the criteria proposed by Levinton and Alexander for recognising palaeo-opportunistic brachiopods. The new record of an opportunistic chonetid suggests that the group may have evolved this adaptative strategy during the late Palaeozoic.

摘要:
A large, fossilised crocodilian metatarsal has been recovered from the Pliocene Bluff Downs Local Fauna exhibiting proliferative bone growth consistent with an episode of osteoperiostitis, possibly resulting from trauma. The nature and location of this trauma suggests that it may have occurred as a result of intraspecific aggression between rival animals. Three crocodilian genera have been recovered from the Bluff Downs Fauna,Crocodylus, QuinkanaandPallimnarchus. The metatarsal does not conform toCrocodylus porosusand therefore most probably represents one of the other two known crocodilian taxa. The nature of the injury suggests that it occurred in water and it may belong to the now extinct Plio-PleistocenePallimnarchusrather thanQuinkana babarrawhich is interpreted as being predominantly terrestrial.
