AbstractA series of experimental data for crystallization and melting under pressure, obtained by using different measuring systems, are reconsidered on the basis of topoenergetic principles recently established. Two transformations statistically contribute at least in the global processes in high density polyethylene and trans‐1,4‐polyisoprene samples, namely: (i) the lamellar segregation as a result of molecular fractionation and/or defect concentration, and (ii) the lamellar thickening. These processes show a transition in their nature and/or amplitude for a value of approximately 200 MPa for the externally applied pressure during crystallization or melting. AbstractThermally stimulated depolarization of cellulose nitrate has been measured as a function of polarizing voltage, electret forming temperature, heating rate and storage time. A single peak due to polar side ester group is observed at approximately 50°C, whose magnitude increases with polarizing voltage. The peak is absent for low (≤90°C) and high (≥140°C) electret forming temperatures. In the intermediate temperature range the value of the peak current decreases with the forming temperature from 100 to 120°C and then increases. AbstractThe electrical properties of complex anion radical salts of 7,7′,8,8′‐tetracyanoquinodimethane with polycations containing sulfur atoms in the main chain were investigated. The influence of the chemical structure of complex and simple salts on their electrical properties is discussed. Complex salts Ks[x, y] containing an odd number of methylene groups between positively charged sulfur atoms show higher electrical conductivity than those with even number of methylene groups between positively charged sulfur atoms. It was found that with simple salts the electrical conductivity increases with the decrease of the distance between S+. For complex salts the electrical conductivity increases if the distance between the donor centers increases. The lowest resistivity values ϱ = 6.46 Ω. cm were found with the complex salts Ks[5,6], whereas the thermal activation energy amounted to 0.015 eV. AbstractA number of polydisperse samples of styrene‐butadiene rubber differing in the preparation conditions were investigated by the methods of light scattering, viscometry and sedimentation analysis. The molar masses were measured by light scattering in cyclohexane solutions (25°C, thermodynamically good solvent) and by the Archibald approach to equilibrium method in methyl‐n‐propyl ketone (21°C, θ‐solvent); the intrinsic viscosity was determined in both solvents. The log [η] vs. log Mwdependence was curved in all cases, departures from linearity due to branching increased with increasing molar mass. The degree of branching was estimated using the viscometric method consisting in the determination of the intrinsic viscosity in two solvents with sufficiently different values of the MARK‐HOUWINKexponent. The degree of branching of macromolecules under the conditions used is essentially determined by the length of the primary chain given by the regulator concentration in the polymerization mixture and by conversion. In the emulsion system used the degree of branching does not depend significantly on the polymerization conversion if the latter is lower than 50%, but increases considerably at highe

AbstractEine Theorie der Stabilität von Dispersionen in Lösungen von frei beweglichen Makromolekülen wird entwickelt. Dabei zeigt sich, daß das Potential der Wechselwirkung zwischen den kolloidalen Teilchen durch die Polymerkonzentration, die Molmasse des Polymers und die thermodynamische Güte des Lösungsmittels bestimmt wird. Die Theorie legt nahe, daß unterhalb einer gewissen Polymerkonzentration die Wechselwirkungen zwischen den Teilchen vernachlässigbar sind und oberhalb dieser Konzentration die Anziehung dominiert. Das führt zu einer Instabilität des kolloidalen Systems. Oberhalb einer zweiten Konzentration tritt eine ausreichende Abstoßung zwischen den Teilchen auf. AbstractAn Proben aus Polyethylenterephthalatfolien beobachtet man ein Lebensdauerspektrum mit vier diskreten Zeiten. In Abhängigkeit von der Dicke der Folien findet man prinzipiell unterschiedliche Gesetzmäßigkeiten des Bruchprozesses. Vergleichsweise dicke Folien (mehr als 50 μm) verhalten sich wie massive Proben (Žurkovsche Lebensdauergleichung), dünne Folien (10 bis 50 μm) sind durch ein Lebensdauerspektrum charakterisiert. Obwohl der Mittelwert der Lebensdauer von der Zugspannung abhängt, sind die Lebensdauerniveaus von der Spannung unabhängig. Die Zeitabhängigkeit der Festigkeit erklärt sich aus der Tatsache, daß sich mit der Spannungsänderung die Besetzungsdichte der Niveaus und damit die mittlere Lebensdauer ändert. Es wird angenommen, daß der Hauptprozeß in Polymerfolien nicht das Wachstum von Mikrorissen, sondern die Herausbildung eines neuen Typs von Strukturdefekten und ihre Umwandlung von einem Typ in einen anderen unter Einfluß der angeleg
