摘要:
Continuous SvO2monitoring is increasingly used as a standard for monitoring of acutely ill patients. This continuous monitoring provides an opportunity for the critical care nurse to immediately evaluate patient responses to nursing care and treatments. Here the author describes how to interpret the SvO2levels using advanced physiologic concepts.

摘要:
Heart and lung transplantation is a new frontier providing patients who are not candidates for heart transplant alone with a second chance to live. For the critical care nurse, who is responsible for preventing complications in all transplant recipients, the heart and lung transplant patient poses an extraordinary challenge due to the extensive number of potential complications.

摘要:
It was theorized 35 year ago that patient visiting could be a means of reducing symptoms of stress for the postanesthesia patient.1Yet, the practice of encouraging patient visiting in the Postanesthesia Care Unit(PACU) has not been a widely recognized policy. Although visiting in other critical care areas has increased, visiting in the PACU is still a very controversial nursing issue. The Pros and cons of family visiting in the PACU are debated in this article.
