AbstractThe systematic anatomical investigation of 16 West African species ofBrachiariawere carried out. The significance of the microscopic observation outlined in the work can be correlated with the taxonomic affinities of the genus and also employed in the identification and classification of sterile materials. The species of the genus are characterized by the embedment of outermost vascular bundles in the outer margin of sclerenchyma, the presence of parenchyma cells in the central ground tissue, the absence of papillae in the long cells of the epidermides, the presence of prickles most especially on the margins on the lamina. The anatomical characters which may help in distinguishing the various species one from another include the shape of subsidiary cells in surface view, dermal appendages, outline of leaf blade in transection and type of Kranz tissue. An artificial key to the 16 species ofBrachiariabased on the anatomical features is provided.

摘要:

AbstractEmbryological details pertaining to the development and structure of anther and ovule, sporogenesis, gametogenesis and gametophytes of 9 species of 7 genera belonging to Boraginaceae are described. Anther is tetrasporangiate with ‘Dicotyledonous type’ of wall development. The wall includes the epidermis, endothecium, single middle layer and secretory type tapetum. Cytokinesis is simultaneous. Tetrahedral, decussate and isobilateral tetrads are formed. Pollen grains are mostly dumb‐bell shaped and 3‐celled at shedding stage. Ovules are unitegmic, tenuinucellate and hemianatropous or anatropous. Megaspore tetrads are linear or ‘T’ shaped. The female gametophyte development conforms to Polygonum type except inLycopsisandAnchusawhere it is predominantly of Allium type. AbstractThe present paper is dealing with the phytogeographical analysis of the flora ofPinus halepensisforests in Kassandra peninsula (Chalkidiki). The results of this analysis showed a high participation of the mediterranean elements, a fact that confirms the classification ofPinus halepensisforests of the peninsula in the mediterranean floristic zone.
