摘要:
A new type of digital signal processing type digital phase locked loop is presented. It consists of a second order DPLL and first order DPLL both of which possess an additional automatic-frequency-control arrangement. It has a much wider acquisition range, smaller locking time and a wider stability boundary compared to those of the earlier versions. Exhaustive computer simulation results have been presented in support of the conclusions.

摘要:
Equations of switching surface for variable structured control for discrete time process have been derived using Voronov's method. The condition for reachability and existence of such surfaces are shown to exist by this method of construction though it forms a subset of total possible classes. A numerical example is also provided.

摘要:
The use of proper domain decomposition is shown to have bearing on the computation time in a mode-matching formulation. A simple L-shaped waveguide is taken and is analyzed using mode-matching with two different ways of domain decomposition. In one of the methods, the number of domains is kept minimum so that the analysis is easier, whereas, in the other the motivation is to choose the domains in such a way that all the waveguide wall boundaries are explicitly satisfied. The second way of domain decomposition is shown to be computationally much more efficient as compared to the first one. An L-shaped waveguide with arbitrary chosen dimensions was fabricated and was used to experimentally verify the accuracy of the two ways of domain decomposition. The experimentally and the theoretically obtained numbers match excellently.

摘要:
The role of plasma temperature in radar response of lightning is first pointed out. The application of these results demands a more sophisticated model for true geometry of lightning. Observations of pulse-to-pulse behaviour, radar range dependence of lightning echo amplitude and dual wavelength measurements including a comparison of echoes from lightning and from precipitation provide valuable information which are thereby developed from theoretical point of view. Implications for charge rearrangement by thunder-cloud lightning are also critically considered.

摘要:
A multipath ring oscillator is composed of i chain of inverters, the outputs of which are weighted and combined to provide the feedback signal. Multipath oscillators may be operated in two basic modes,viz, the mux mode and quadrature controlled mode. In the mux mode the frequency of oscillation is controlled by varying the effective number of inverter stages while the quadrature mode utilizes injected quadrature currents to control the frequency.The performance characteristics of multipath ring oscillators are presented. Experimental results on tuning characteristics of several two-path and three path VCOs are presented. Results are also given for a PLL using phase frequency detector and charge pump, and for a crystal controlled VCO using a ring.

摘要:
The coupling coefficient of two multimode optical fibers adjacent to each other has been studied theoretically by the rigorous and the approximate formulae developed by Snyder and Ogawa. The variation of several parameters like the separation and diameter, etc has been taken and their effects on the coupling coefficients for the different modes studied. It is recommended that the approximate Ogawa formula can be used for circuit designs involving the optical couplers.

摘要:
Dependance of IMPTT oscillator performance on threshold current for oscillation has been studied. It has been found that optimum performance of the oscillator in terms of maximum power output and safe operation of the oscillator can be obtained at a particular threshold current of oscillation for a given device. This particular threshold current of oscillation corresponds to device-circuit interaction for which the circuit determined frequency is very close to the optimum design frequency of the device. Further, the optimum threshold current for oscillation is nearly half of that of the typical operating current of the device.

摘要:
A microcomputer based method and its interface for the measurement of fluid flow using an 8253 (Programmable Interval Counter) counter is presented. The measurement system consists of a turbine flow meter and a microprocessor based linearizer unit. The turbine flow meter is interfaced with an IBM PC Compatible and gives linearised pulse output corresponding to a flow rate. The microcomputer is programmed to read and control flow rate which may be varied by a stepper motor driven needle valve. The software for the flow measurement has been developed and the same has been tested in real-time for feedback control system applications.

摘要:
The complete algorithm for finding the determinant of the polynomial matrix is presented. A new data structure is given for representing the polynomial matrix. This data structure will increase computational speed. The entire algorithm is developed in a structured form and the subroutine PMD (Polynomial Matrix Determinant) is written in FORTRAN 77.
