摘要:
The propagation of isothermal acceleration and shock waves in nonlinear thermoelastic Cosserat solids is discussed. The growth equation is derived for isothermal acceleration waves propagating into a region in which the material is homogeneously deformed and in equilibrium at uniform and constant temperature.

摘要:
This paper presents a theoretical study of stress relaxation in an infinite circular solid cylinder due to creep deformation at steady temperature after the cylinder is subjected to rapid surface heating. A quasistatic, uncoupled, thermoelastoplastic creep analysis based on the incremental theory of plasticity and the Mises-Mises creep theory is formulated for a method of successive elastic solutions. The material of the cylinder is assumed to have temperature-dependent properties and to be characterized by the Romberg-Osgood stress-strain relation and Norton's law for secondary creep.

摘要:
The results of a theoretical analysis of the thermal stresses and deformations in a punch during sheet-metal blanking are presented. The problem is reduced to the determination of the unsteady thermal stresses and deformations in a semi-infinite circular cylinder subjected to finite surface heat generation over its lateral surface.

摘要:
The equations of small thermoelastic deformations superposed on a large deformation, at nonconstant temperature, are derived. A linear theory of thermoelasticity with nonconstant reference temperature is obtained. This is a coupled theory even for the static case.

摘要:
A solution is given for the stress field in a large solid containing an imperfectly conducting, penny-shaped crack. The heat flux between the crack faces is assumed to be proportional to the local temperature difference. It is shown that the shear stress on the crack plane depends only upon the average temperature of one crack surface. Numerical results are obtained for the case in which the crack obstructs an otherwise uniform heat flux.

摘要:
This paper deals with the state of stress in an infinite elastic solid with an external crack that is subjected to a prescribed temperature distribution. The infinite elastic medium consists of two materials that are separated by a cylindrical surface. It is assumed that there is perfect bonding at the common cylindrical surface. By assuming a suitable representation for the temperature function, the heat conduction problem is reduced to the solution of a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. Then, using suitable biharmonic functions as thermoelastic potentials, the thermoelastic problem is also reduced to the solution of a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. Both integral equations are solved numerically. The numerical values of the stress intensity factor are displayed graphically.

摘要:
Stationary two-dimensional temperature, stress, and displacement distributions are investigated for a simply supported slab consisting of bonded orthotropic layers. The top and bottom faces of the slab are subject to arbitrary variations of temperature, heat flux, or convection, and arbitrary distributions of tractions. Displacement potentials are used to obtain the exact thermo-elasticity solution. For purposes of comparison, a strength-of-materials approximation for the temperature-induced stresses and middle-surface displacements is presented. As an illustrative example, the thermoelastic response to a sinusoidal distribution of temperature rise over the top face of the slab is computed; numerical results are given for laminates of various geometric configurations.

摘要:
The propagation of waves in an infinite micropolar elastic solid containing a cylindrical cavity and under the influence of temperature is investigated. Waves with axial symmetry with respect to the axis of the cavity are discussed, using the linear theory of micropolar thermoelasticity.
