摘要:
The thermodynamic principle of virtual dissipation is given a formulation with variations of the field components freed from any constraints. Application of the principle and the introduction of a new state variable called heat content leads to the integro-differential field equations of thermorheology. Rigorous Lagrangian equations are also obtained which avoid the use of the entropy produced as an auxiliary variable while taking into account the heat generated. Quasi-isothermal and quasi-adiabatic evolutions are considered. Attention is called to the completeness of the generalized coordinate description and to implications in finite-element and bifurcation analysis based on the Lagrangian equations.

摘要:
The stability of equilibrium of a thick, elastic, infinitely long slab composed of an incompressible Mooney-Rivlin material is studied. The slab is placed between two perfectly rigid plates and subjected initially to uniform heating, and subsequently to a large homogeneous compressive strain. On this original thermoelastic deformation, a small deformation field and a weak temperature field ate superposed. Application of the boundary conditions results in a system of linear algebraic equations whose solution is associated with nontrivial configurations of the slab. An explicit relation between the slenderness of the slab and the critical compressive strain is found. A numerical example displays the influence of heating on the stability of the slab.

摘要:
This paper consists of three parts. In the first part, the problem of the conversion of mechanical energy into heat is treated, while in the second a general theory of thermoelastic friction in three-dimensional finite bodies is developed. In the third part, explicit results are obtained for thermoelastic damping in vibrating elastic beams. All investigations are based on the linear theory of thermoelasticity.

摘要:
In this paper, the equations of small thermoelastic deformations superposed on a large deformation in dipolar bodies are derived. The linear theory of thermoelastic bodies with initial stress is studied and reciprocity and variational theorems are presented.

摘要:
This paper is concerned with the one-dimensional problem of distribution of thermal stresses and temperature in the generalized thermoelastic semispace subjected 10 sudden heating with constant temperature on the bounding plane. The Laplace transform technique is used to solve the problem. The inverse transforms are obtained in an approximate manner as proposed by Paria |19| and Hetnarski |5|. Numerical computations for two particular cases are carried out for small values of lime, and the results are compared with the corresponding solution of the coupled problem obtained by Hetnarski |5|.

摘要:
This paper deals with the effect of the process of thermodiffusion in viscoelastic bodies. The basic linear coupled equations of the problem are derived, and possibilities for their simplification are indicated. A method for their solution is demonstrated and then applied to the case of a viscoelastic layer.

摘要:
This paper examines the stationary temperature and stress fields in an orthotropic elastic slab containing a plane interior region which resists heat flow. Over this region of imperfection the heat flux is assumed to be proportional to the local temperature difference, whereas the stress and displacement components are taken to be continuous. Each face of the slab is subject to an arbitrary temperature variation. Numerical results are given for isotropic and orthotropic slabs with flaws of various lengths and heat-flow resistances.
