摘要:
The variation of an arbitrary thermal functional corresponding to the variation of structural shape is derived for a thermal isotropic body by using direct and adjoint approaches. Both the steady-state and transient cases are considered, and a simple example is used to demonstrate the various approaches.

摘要:
After establishing the fundamental equations of nonlocal coupled thermoelasticity in Fourier space, nonlocal longitudinal thermoelastic waves in an infinite space are analyzed. Identification of the elastic dispersion equation obtained with its counterpart derived in lattice dynamics leads to values of the nonlocal elastic moduli. Similar identification of the velocity of thermal waves with its counterpart in second sound theory yields the values of the nonlocal thermal moduli. A numerical example involving solid helium is given.

摘要:
The existence of stress-free planar temperature-induced strain distributions is shown. An analytic complex functionfdefines a transformation from an isothermal, room temperature sheet to the deformed sheet after heating. The local strain is the magnitude of the derivative of the transformation (|f′| − I), and the local rotation is the phase off′. The temperature distribution is found by setting the local temperature to the correct value to give the necessary strain. It is further shown that any continuous transformation whose derivative defines an isotropic expansion and a rotation is an analytic complex transformation and that these transformations are completely stress-free. The new theory is more accurate than the previous theory, which states that ▽2T = 0 implies zero stress.

摘要:
This paper deals with a transient thermal stress problem in an infinitely long circular cylinder to which a heated rigid band is bonded in the case where the heat transfer coefficient at the bonded surface is different from the coefficient at the traction-free boundary surface. A finite-difference formulation is used with respect to a time variable for the temperature field because of the difficulty of obtaining an analytical expression. Thus the analytical expression for the temperature with respect to the spatial variables may be obtained. The temperature and stress solutions reduce to a dual integral equation. Coefficients that may be used to determine the strength of the stress singularities are introduced.

摘要:
The problem of adhesive contact between a thin circular plate under temperature loading and an isotropic elastic half-space is reduced to a problem of solving a pair of coupled integral equations for the unknown interfacial tractions. A numerical procedure for its solution is outlined and some results are presented in graphical form.

摘要:
A solution is given for the transient thermal stresses due to a local source of heat that moves at constant speed over the surface of an infinite elastic slab. The transient temperature distribution is obtained by means of the Fourier and Laplace transforms, and the associated thermal stresses are obtained by making use of the thermoelastic displacement function and the Galerkin function.
