摘要:
The immature stages of two dung beetle speciesAllogymnopleurus thalassinusKlug 1855 andAllogymnopleurus consociusPeringuey 1900 were reared in the laboratory in three textural classes of soil under different conditions of soil moisture in order to determine whether differential mortality in different soil types could help explain the strong associations between soil type and beetle abundance in the field. Larvae survived well in dry and moist soil treatments, regardless of soil type, but poorly in wet soil treatments. The effect of soil moisture on the distribution of both species in different soil types is discussed.

摘要:
The population structure, female breeding cycle, male courting activity and the mating behaviour of the tropical ocypodid crab,Ilyoplax gangetica(Kemp 1919) were studied on the mud flat of Phuket Island, southern Thailand. The smallest sized female carrying eggs and male performing the waving display were 3.70 and 3.55 mm in carapace width, respectively. Both the male courting activity and the female breeding exhibited semilunar cycles. Males performing waving occurred in all the months of the year and during the periods between new or full moon and the following half moon on the monthly basis. After enticement into a waving male's burrow, the female copulated, laid eggs and released zoea after ca 12 days incubation. The pair was separated when the male left his burrow after the female laid eggs or within 6 days after pair formation.

Predatory soil mites of the family Rhagidiidae (Acari Prostigmata) were collected from tropical rain forest in Nam Cat Tien National Park, South Vietnam. The new taxaFoveacheles (Achaetorhagidia) tropican. subgen., n. sp.;F. (A.) namcatiensisn. sp.;Rhagidia (Dongnaia) edaphican. subgen., n. sp. are described andRobustocheles (R.) mucronata(Willmann 1936) is reported and its occurrence in SE Asia discussed.

摘要:
Descriptions of puparia and third instar cephalopharyngeal skeletons ofGraptomyza mitisCurran & Bryan 1926,G. signata(Walker 1860), andG. triangulifera(Bigot 1883) are given. The rearing data and the feeding habits of these species are discussed. Feeding habits and mouthpart morphology reveal that members of the genus are saprophagous and thatG. mitismay use filter feeding as a means of mycetophagy.

摘要:
Typhlobelus macromycterus, new species, is described from the lower Rio Tocantins, Estado do Para, northern Brazil. It is hypothesized to be closely related to T.ternetziMyers 1944 by the possession of a prominent, duck-beak-shaped snout and by the absence of the pectoral fin; differing from it by the longer snout, the larger interorbital distance, and the straight dorsal profile of the head. The new record of distribution and habitat indicates thatTyphlobelusMyers 1944 may be widespread in the Amazon basin.

摘要:
A new species ofAnouraGray 1838 is described. The taxon is known from 48 specimens collected at eight localities in the Venezuelan Andes, and its distribution is likely to include at least the Colombian Andes. The new species is smaller than any of the four species ofAnourarecognized to date, and possesses a distinctive combination of external, cranial, and dental characters. The new species inhabits forests at medium and high elevations, roosts in caves, and feeds at least partly on nectar and pollen.

摘要:
Thirty-eight species of xanthoid crab are recorded for the first time from Dhofar Province, southern Oman. The geographical range of three species[Nanocassiope alcocki(Rathbun 1902),Actumnus digitalis(Rathbun 1907), andMacromedaeus crassimanus(A. Milne Edwards 1867)] is substantially extended. The pattern of xanthoid species diversity is discussed in relation to the effect of the seasonal monsoon-driven upwelling, and compared with that of other parts of the Western Indian Ocean.

摘要:
Some new species of the coleopterous family Tenebrionidae (Coleoptera Heteromera) collected in Venezuela and Northern Argentina (South America) are described, namely:Rhypasma bordoni, Aemymone bordoni, Aemymone silvanae, Paratenetus huequensis, Paratenetus bordoni, Cyrtosoma cuyaguensisandParalorelopsis bordoni. All of them are from Venezuela, exceptAemymone silvanae, collected in Northern Argentina. For each species the relationships with allied species are indicated, together with the geographical distribution and the ecological characteristics of the inhabited zone. Some comments are made about the effect of isolation on the evolution of some species. The lack of thorough collections and researches in Venezuela is emphasized.
