AbstractThree Coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations for two transverse and one longitudinal waves has been derived. These equations have been derived using two space time scale techniques. It is shown that even without the effect of relativistic mass variation and ion contribution, all three waves may propagate in the form of localized solitary envelope with a common velocity for small values of the transverse wave numbers and the longitudinal wave number far exceedingkD√me/mi. AbstractExpressions for power reflection (R), transmission (T) and absorption (A) coefficients forp‐polarized wave for a warm, collisional, magnetized and moving plasma slab (with sharp boundaries and thicknessd0) are investigated. The effects of plasma slab velocity (β=v/c), electron density (ωp/ω)2and plasma temperature (KBT) on reflection (R), transmission (T) and absorption (A) coefficients are discussed numerically. It is observed that for the value β=−0.6, reflection coefficient (R) becomes more than unity, whereas absorption coefficient (A) becomes quite negligible while transmission coefficient (T) shows oscillatory behaviour. The variation with plasma frequency (ωp/ω)2shows that at lower plasma frequency (ωp/ω)2=0.2 transmission (T) and absorption (A) coefficients are minimum while reflection coefficient (R)

AbstractThe propagation and absorption of ECR waves in a tokamak plasma with small size and low values of the electron temperature and the toroidal magnetic field is studied numerically. The cold plasma dispersion equation is solved and ray tracing calculations are performed to find the accessibility conditions and the optimal angle of wave launching for maximal ECR absorption. Absorption coefficients are computed in the high density approximation.

AbstractThough intense work on the development of a full colour flat TV display panel based on gas discharges has produced considerable progress over the last 10 years no practicable technological solutions have been found [1–2]. Of the different approaches the alternating current (ac) discharge has been proved suitable for the alphanumerical and graphical display technique and the direct current (dc) discharge for colour TV panels. To reach such aims as improved optical efficiency, colour gamut and increased life time as well as simpler manufacturing technology and more effective addressing for reducing costs, long‐term basic research in the field of gas discharges and phosphors and the development of special technologies is necessary [3–8].
