Microscopic examination of a breast capsule that accompanied an explanted prosthetic device reveated that it was lined by a well-ordered double layer of cells resembling those that line bursal spaces or synovium (Fig. 1). The incidence and biological nature of this change were investigated in 10 additional cases.
