Looking at the work of the Japanese novelist, Ishiwara Shintaro, the author attempts to see to what extent and in what way the Freudian psychoanalytic theory “works” when applied to the Japanese not on an analyst's couch, and helps us in expanding our understanding of the Japanese psychology.
