In this paper we study the influence of temperature and velocity gradient nonuniformities on the stabilization of the adiabatic symmetric flow caused by a constant pressure gradient of a thermoviscous liquid with temperature-dependent viscosity. We show that the choice of the viscosity function permits the stabilizing effect of internal dissipation to prevail and deliver a stable large time response, without “shear band” formation.
