摘要:
This paper reported on an outpatient group phase approach for the treatment of the spouse of an alcoholic. The approach is based on Jackson's Seven Stages of family adjustment. Individual therapy as well as groups provide a continuous support system. The unique aspect of having a group phase approach is that it views the spouse's recovery as a gradual process which enables the spouse to have his or her needs met at various stages in recovery. The spouse's need for treatment is viewed as essential whether or not the alcoholic is in treatment. The approach as described can help the spouses to lead independent, productive and gratifying lives.
