SummaryAntibody response of dysgammaglobulinemic chickens and of immunologically intact controls (LSL) after immunization with haptens (DNP, MATP) coupled to carrier proteins was investigated.Only one group of dysgammaglobulinemic chickens showed an IgG‐antibody response comparable to that of control chickens. Carrier preimmunization caused a strong antibody response of all the chickens. The mitogenic LPS effect resulted in increased serum IgG‐level of the dysgammaglobulinemic chickens.BG‐cell specific tolerance as a consequence of a retarded bursal development is discussed as a possible reason of the dysgammaglobulinemia.
