SUMMARYA new spot test has been found useful in the detection of amatoxins and tryptamines in both fresh and dried mushrooms. The speed of the test makes it possible to test many individual carpophores of the same species for toxin content. This has been done forAmanita phalloidesandA. virosa.Seventeen other species ofAmanitawere also examined and the results confirmed by thin-layer chromatography.
