This article reviews precancerous lesions of the uterine cervix and focuses on personal factors now believed to influence risk. The review was conducted for the purpose of stimulating an awareness of risk factors and encouraging nurses to conduct research studies and to design appropriate nursing therapies, particularly for teenagers, who are developing precancerous lesions in increasing numbers.
