Zusammenfassung1. Die von Richards (1950) von den britischen Inseln beschriebenen Formen vonNeotr. autumnalis(Shaw 1790) wurden an den verschiedensten Stellen des europäischen Kontinents gefunden.2. An Hand der von Richards gegebenen korrelierten Merkmale wurden Populationen von mehreren Fundorten in diese Formen gereiht und die Variabilität morphologischer Merkmctle festgestellt. Populationen vonNeotr. vernalis(Willmann 1942) wurden in die Untersuchung der Variabilität miteinbezogen, da sich deren nehe Verwandtschaft mit den Formen vonN. autumnalisherausstellte.3. Nach der Konstanz, Variationstendenz und ‐breite wurde der taxonomische Wert einzelner Merkmale beurteilt. Die morphologischen Kriterien lessen sich in drei Gruppen gliedern. Die 1. Merkmalsgruppe umfaßt jene Merkmale, nach welchen Larven der Trombiculinae derzeit von den Taxonomen in die GattungNeotrombiculaHirst 1915 und die UntergattungNeotrornbiculaHirst 1915 gereiht werden. In der 2. Gruppe sind Merkmale vereinigt, welche miteinander kombiniert die Formen als Species oder Subspecies charakterisieren. Die 3. Merkmalsgruppe enthält Merkmale ohne taxonomischen Wert. Außerdem wurden rtls Anomalien aufgefaßte Merkmalsänderungen erfaßt.4. Nach den morphologischen Kriterien werden die Formen vonNeotr. autumnalisundNeotr. vernalisals eine Art, gegliedert in vier Unterarten, aufgefaßt. Die Annahme einer Existenz von vier getrennten taxonomischen Einheiten wird durch die Ergebnisse des Studiums der räumlichen und zeitlichen Verteilung der Formen unterstützt. Daraus werden die taxonomischen Konsequenzen gezogen, vier Unterarten vonNeotr. autumnalispostuliert und deren Diagnosen gegeben:1.Neotr. autumnalis(Shaw, 1790)autumnalis(Riohards, 1950)2.Neotr. autumnalis(Shaw, 1790)inopinatum(Oudemans, 1909)3.Neotr. autumnalis(Shaw, 1790)vernalis(Willmann, 1942)4.Neotr. autumnalis(Shbw, 1790)earisnov. subspec.Summary1. The forms ofNeotr. autumnalis(Shaw 1790) deacribed by Richards (1960) as found on the British Isles were found at various places of the European continent.2. Based on the oorrelated cheraateristias indicated by Richards, populations of several sites of finding were cleeeified into these forms and the variability of morphological symptoms waa stated. Populations ofNeotr. vernalis(Willmann, 1942) were inoluded in the investigation of the variability, sinoe their close relationship to the forms ofN. autumnaliswas detected.3. Acaording to the constancy, variation‐tendency and its scope, the taxonomical value of individual characteristics was evaluated. The morphological criteria can be subdivided into three groups. The firat group comprises those characteristics according to which the larvae of Trombiculinae were classified by the taxonomists into the speciesNeotrombiculaHirst 1915 and the subspciesNeotrombiculaHirst 1916. The second group comprises characteristics which, when combined, characterise the forms as speoies or subspecies. The third group contains characteristics without taxonomical value. Furthermore changes of characteristics considered as anomalies were stated.4. According to the morphological criteria the forms ofNeotr. autumnalisandNeotr. vernalisare considered as one species, subdivided into four subspecies. The assumption of the existence of four seperate taxonomical unita is supported by the results of the study of the spacial and timely distribution of the forms.
