The concept of magnetic lines of force usually has been substantiated by an appropriate demonstration of the arrangement of iron filings around a magnet. In the corresponding case of electric field, demonstrations have been difficult to make. This article describes a method which overcomes the difficulties and, with simple equipment and materials, illustrates three-dimensionally electric lines of force in fields of fairly low intensity.
