This article describes a program developed by a community hospital to assist in the management of a Level II Emergency Department. The implementation of the program has freed staff nurses from unnecessary paper work by automating documents required by accrediting agencies. It has fulfilled management expectations by providing check points that assure efficient and accurate treatment, and facilitate staffing changes, audit procedures, billing, and department accountability.
