The use of combination therapy with lipid-lowering agents which have complementary effects on lipoprotein metabolism is an important option for the treatment of severe hyperlipoproteinaemia. This review presents a discussion of recent studies of combination therapy set against the background of existing knowledge in this important therapeutic area.
