AbstractThe essential oilScutellaria laterifloraL. (Labiatae) growing wild in northern Iran obtained by hydrodistillation was investigated using TLC, LSC, GLC, and GLC‐MS methods. The oil is mainly composed of sesquiterpenes (78.3%) of which τ‐cadinene (27%), calamenene (15.2%), β‐elemene (9.2%), α‐cubebene (4.2%), and α‐humulene (4.2%) are the major components. At least 73 compounds were present in the oil. Non‐terpenoid constituents were found in low
