The aim of this conference is to bring together leading experts from different disciplines to provide a comprehensive update of recent progress and to discuss future developments and priorities in polyketides research and closely related areas of fatty acid metabolism. In addition downstream tailoring of polyketides e.g.glycosylation and biosynthesis of deoxysugars structure and biosynthesis of marine toxins and relationships with non-ribosomal peptide syntheses will be featured. The programme will consist of keynote and other invited lectures a limited number of offered oral contributions and a poster session with the posters forming an integral part of the meeting.
