摘要:
Correlated-electron materials are those whose properties cannot be described fully by one-electron bandstructure calculations or, stated another way, are those in which many-body electron physics is crucial to their properties. They include heavy-fermion (f-electron) systems, high-Tcand other unconventional superconductors, and colossal-magnetoresistance (CMR) manganites. LANSCE and its users have a broad program in this area, and we give three examples of work performed in the last two years using the HIPD powder diffractometer, the SCD single-crystal diffractorneter, and the high-resolution chopper spectrometer PHAROS: the magnetic and crystallographic structures of UPd2Pb, the quadrupolar Kondo system PrAgJn. and the twolayer CMR compounds La2−2xSr1+2×Mn207.
