Investigation on the antifungal activity of naturally occurring citral containing essential oil ofLitsea cubebaPers. at various dilutions revealed the possibility of its utilization as an antifungal agent. The oil isolated from the fruits ofL. cubebawas testedin vitrofor its activity at different concentrations againstFusarium moniliforme, Fusarium solani, Alternaria alternataandAspergillus niger.The oil was found to be effective against these fungal pathogens under laboratory screening. The antifungal activities of the oil increased with an increase in the concentration. Minimum effective concentrations of the oil against fungal pathogen was also different.
