The full diagnostic potential of nuclear data cannot be realized without computer assistance, the authors say, describing a system that analyzes the images obtained from single scans in many different ways—quantifying the distribution of radioactivity on a regional basis, evaluating objectively the changes in function over time. Surprisingly, perhaps, this expanded capability can now be achieved at relatively little cost.
