摘要:
SummaryCase reports of four patients are presented as examples of reversible ischemic colitis. Clinical features such as lower abdominal cramps, single episodes of rectal bleeding, the paucity of clinical signs, and the characteristic radiologic features on barium‐enema studies are emphasized. Subsidence of symptoms and reversion of the pseudotumors, “thumb‐prints” and mucosal ulceration to normal on repeat bariumenema studies are described. These cases further confirm the sequence of events established by clinical and experimental evidence. A correlation of contraceptive therapy and possibly allergic phenomena with ischemic colitis is postulated in the case of Patient I. The disease is usually benign, but it should be emphasized that when clinical and radiologic findings do not correlate, and when symptoms persist, surgical intervention (as in the case of Patient 4) is indicated. All patients should be followed for at least a year.We feel it is important to be aware of this entity to avoid unnecessary surgical procedures.
