ConclusionsReviewing the progress in organ transplantation during the past five years, it appears predictable that the problem of the serious complications which have attended these procedures is well on the way to solution, and that morbidity and mortality rates will soon approach those of other major surgical procedures. When abdominal symptoms or bowel problems occur in kidney transplant patients, the consultant in colonic and rectal diseases should be aware of the problems we have described.
