Summary:In a single blind clinical trial, a significant preference emerged for mebeverine against the placebo tablet, when patients compared the efficacy of the two agents in relieving the symptoms of the irritable colon syndrome. This result confirms a previous study and indicates that mebeverine deserves a place in the management of the irritable colon syndrome in those patients who require drug therapy.
