ABSTRACTExocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) was diagnosed in two German shepherd dogs and treatment given for three months and two years. The owners later discontinued therapy because the dogs' condition improved and both had a normal life for 2.5 and 5.5 years without medication or modified diet. This suggests that dogs with EPI do not always exhibit clinical signs and that the disease can occur in a ‘subclinical’ form.
