AbstractIn spite of technological advances, the QWERTY typewriter keyboard still predominates as the person‐computer interface. Some reasons are first given, then the later sections of the paper discuss other devices that are increasingly used in commerce and industry but which, as yet, have had little educational impact. The argument is for support for research and development of these devices in educational contexts, and this could be particularly beneficial for learners with special need
