The cosmetic results of a skin biopsy technique using a sickle to half moon shaped incision and repaired with subcuticular purse-string type of suture inserted in a triangular shape have been compared with those of conventional excision biopsy techniques. The new technique resulted in significantly narrower scars in the majority of patients. Dexon, a non-tearing but absorbable synthetic suture material, was used.
