Summary:The association between some of the major risk factors in coronary heart disease and abnormal serum lipoprotein patterns was explored in 85 patients who had suffered a myocardial infarction. It was found that hyperlipoproteinaemia was associated significantly with age less than 50 and with a positive family history of premature coronary heart disease. There was no significant association in this group of patients between hyperlipoproteinaemia and sex, obesity, smoking, diabetes mellitus, level of activity or hypertension.
