The standard model of strong and electroweak interactions is surveyed. Some outstanding problems and compelling questions within that framework are outlined. The need for a diverse experimental program which addresses those issues on several broad fronts is advocated. Precision studies of electroweak radiative corrections are discussed with an emphasis on top quark and Higgs masses and ‘‘new physics’’ implications.
