AbstractThe management of mandibular fractures in edentulous patients poses special problems of reduction and immobilization of the bone fragments. Intramedullary pinning as a means of internal fixation is a direct and simple procedure which permits the free movement of the jaw immediately after the operation.The present study supports the conclusion that intramedullary pinning may be considered the procedure of choice for the treatment of fractures of the body and most fractures of the angle of the edentulous mandible.
