The world energy crisis has emphasised the critical need to develop renewable types of energy resources, particularly for power-generation purposes. This need has prompted both Canada and the United States to re-examine their tidal power potentials and the economic feasibility of building tidal power projects at this time. This paper summarises the current status of such activities in both nations.
