Cardiovascular nursing is a relatively young specialty that has attracted a growing number of clinicians, teachers, and researchers. This article describes the experiences of one nurse who has witnessed and helped to shape the changes in cardiovascular nursing that have occurred over a period of 25 years. She describes her career as a cardiovascular nurse and as a mentor for others entering the field. She recalls some of the many lessons learned from her work in clinical and academic sellings and shares with the readers ofThe Journal of Cardiovascular Nursinghow these lessons shaped her work as a teacher and mentor.
