Over the last few years, several sectors of industry have used the facilities of the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) to make neutron scattering measurements related to their productresearch, control and development. ILL is now seeking to increase its involvement with industry and to this end a workshop dedicated to applied research in the domains of materials, chemistry and surfaces was held on June 5, 1998. The meeting was attended by about 30 representatives from industrial laboratories.
