A number of burns in firefighters were treated using standard methods of burn wound care. A pattern of injury was noted. Evaluation of the anatomical distribution of the injuries led to recognition of defects in uniform design, particularly the boot. Suggestions are presented for redesign or improvement of protective clothing.
