A questionnaire assessing atttiudes to clinical theory and practice was administered to a sample of Australian clinical psychologists. Analysis of responses revealed three dimensions of attitudes which were respectively identified as Scientist‐Practitioner, Behavioural and Humanistic. These attitudes varied systematically with mesures of theoretical orientation in such a way as to give confidence that they represented valid characteristics of some Australian clinical psychologists. The degree of overlap between these, and dimensions of attitudes derived from a North American study, indicated a consistency between Australian clinicians and their American colleague
