Clinical reports and empirical studies published in the past 12 months are beginning to validate the effectiveness of different types of psychotherapy for substance abuse treatment.New theoretical models and practice techniques are being applied and evaluated. Individual, group, and family therapy with some patient groups show initial and lasting therapeutic effects.
