AbstractZavarin‐Anderson paper chromatographic method was applied to identify the tropolonic constituents in the extracts of heartwood from four species of FormosanCupresssaceae. The presence of α‐and β‐thujaplicin inChamaecyparis Taiwanensis, β‐ thujaplicin inC hamaecy paris formosensis, β‐ and γ‐ thujaplicin inLibocedrus formosanaand α‐, β‐ thujaplicin and nootkatin inJuniperus
